Ik opereer als strategisch termiet en kom optimaal tot mijn recht in situaties waar weinig structuur is. Ik maak geen plannen maar heb wel een brede visie hoe op termijn resultaat te behalen. Belangrijkste eigenschap is dat ik situaties creëer die vervolgens hun eigen dynamiek meebrengen en zo verandering tot stand brengen vanuit onbekende hoek. So education is an enormously important topic in this context and also one that “knowmad” John Moravec could only broach at the conference. It is true that we need to be rather imaginative in this area. However, and somewhat paradoxically, we also need to be very clear about the specific parameters that we want to use in order to set up a 3rd space of education as one of imagination, one that facilitates the formation of individuals able to navigate their tech-saturated environment as active contributors rather than passive consumers.

This is a really interesting concept which starts to break down some of the traditional views of what a school is.
To me the important part is that this model was made possible by slack in the system. One key part was a school and a teacher with too few pupils, the other key part was home schooled children who searched for a part time teachers with a certain skill or knowledge.
In the civilized world schools and school systems are almost always so optimized and efficient (read “stuffed”) that there are neither time nor space to be innovative. If innovation needs something it is white space to innovate in, and that is true in the educational system as well.
